Frequently Asked Questions

What is Life Coaching?
It is a synergistic relationship between a certified life coach and a client designed to tap into your full potential. The coach uses strategic action and communication techniques to help the client reach their desired goals. With the ability to see things from afar and above, the coach has the capability to shed new light, help sharpen skills, motivate and act as a sounding board through tough decisions.

What is the difference between life coaching and therapy?
Therapy is a past-focus discipline, whereby the therapist psychoanalyzes the past and looks at its impact on an individual; delving into the reasons for the client’s feelings and behaviours. Life coaching is a future-focused, client-driven and goal-oriented process. It focuses on the now. Although I believe it is essential and necessary to spend some time understanding the foundations, roots and past experiences of a client for context and closure, we essentially focus most of our energy on how to make the effective, deliberate and efficient shifts required to improve our lives (and deal with challenges), to- actually achieving it.

Why is life coaching so popular?
Many clients often tell me that, before they found life coaching, they had previously been in therapy but felt frustrated with looking at themselves as simply ‘broken’ or only trying to heal. Therapy, although necessary in many cases, can give the client a reason to hold onto the past’s trauma and to past excuses. Life coaching has become such an integral part of well-being and success in recent decades because of its empowering, positive and results-focused nature.
